Medicare Supplement Insurance or Medigap policy is the health care insurance policy offered by private insurance companies. It covers the services which Original Medicare does not provide. A Medicare Supplement insurance policy does not cover long term care in nursing home, hearing aids, spectacles and vision.
Medicare insurance Part C is also called as Medicare Advantage (MA) plans.
Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by several private companies which are approved by Medicare.
All the services of Medicare are covered by Medicare Advantage Plans except the hospice care. Medicare Advantage plans are not supplementary plans along with Medicare.
Medicare Advantage Plans may give extra coverage like vision, hearing aids, dental and health and wellness programs and prescription drug coverage. If you are already enrolled in the Medicare Advantage Plan, you cannot buy Medigap policy.
You can get the benefits of Medicare Advantage plans even if you have preexisting conditions except End Stage Renal Disease.
